Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi granted ‘U’ certificate for Tamil release
With Kangana Ranaut as the protagonist, Thalaivi is an upcoming biopic film of the famous political leader J. Jayalalithaa. The film has now been issued a ‘U’ certificate for its Tamil version without any cuts.
The makers of the film have also planned to apply for certification for the film's Hindi and Telugu version too. The film was previously slated to release on April 23 this year. However, it got delayed as cinema halls were shut down due to the second wave of Covid-19 cases in the country. Now, the makers are planning to release the film in August this year and only in cinema halls.
Thalaivi is based on the life of J. Jayalalithaa, a politician and film actress who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Directed by A.L. Vijay, the film will also have Arvind Swami, M. Nasar and Bhagyashree Patwardhan in pivotal roles.
