The visually captivating motion poster instantly grabbed attention across social media platforms. It featured Dulquer Salmaan in a striking vintage look, alongside Samuthirakani, who plays his father, and Bhagyashri Borse, essaying his love interest. The poster’s design — rich with retro tones, dramatic backdrops, and an air of intrigue — perfectly sets the mood for what promises to be an emotional and visually grand cinematic experience.

 

Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, is an upcoming period drama horror thriller that delves into the golden era of Tamil cinema. The film is inspired by the life of legendary actor and filmmaker M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, one of the earliest superstars of Indian cinema. The story unfolds in 1950s Madras, capturing the tumultuous friendship between Ayya, a visionary director, and Chandran, a movie star he helped shape. However, when Chandran renames a women-centric film titled Shaantha to Kaantha to suit his own image, it sparks a series of emotional and dramatic turns that alter both their lives.
