Back in March 2023, it was reported that filmmaker James Gunn was set to direct a new Superman movie. In April 2023, Superman: Legacy officially entered the pre-production stage. Following this, in June last year, the makers announced the cast of the movie and who will play the new Superman and Lois Lane. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were announced to play their respective parts in the movie along with Nicholas Hoult, set to essay the role of Lex Luthor. Now, on February 22, the filmmaker shared the first cast photo.

James Gunn shared a behind-the-scenes moment on Instagram, following the first table read. The photo features Gunn and Peter Safran, both who were appointed co-chairs of DC Studios in 2022, alongside cast members David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult. Also pictured in the group photo are Sara Sampaio who will play Eve Teschmacher, Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).

 

“After the table read with the #Superman cast,” Gunn captioned the post. “Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.”

 

 

 

Superman: Legacy marks the beginning of a new era in the DCU, with Gunn and Peter Safran leading the charge in creating a cohesive universe of interconnected films and TV shows. The new entry is slated for release on July 11, 2025.
