Star Vs Food: Scam 1992 star Pratik Gandhi explores culinary skills to cook unique dishes

Discovery+ kicked off the Star Vs Food earlier in April. The new celebrity cooking show features weekly episodes of stars setting themselves up against the challenge of cooking a meal for their loved ones under the supervision of a professional chef. After Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, and Malaika Arora, Pratik Gandhi now joins the star-studded lineup and with the help of Chef and Co-owner of Slink & Bardot Vidit Aren, he cooks a meal for his friends.

SIMPLE FOOD LOVE

 

 

At the beginning itself, Pratik Gandhi admitted that he is someone who loves simple food, has only eaten good food at other people's places, and never actually tried his hands in cooking. He also confessed that the "biggest critic of my life is my wife. She's been asking for the last 12-15 years to make one dish for her which I could never do."

 

COAL ROASTED GLOBE ARTICHOKE AND PORTOBELLO MUSHROOMS

 

 

So begins the process of learning how to cook or rather roast these dishes on coal by using hands. The actor was almost burning his fingers but it was a process he enjoyed and learnt from the most.

 

STRUGGLES

 

 

While working on making the dish, Pratik reflected on how it took years for him to finally find his ground in the entertainment field, courtesy - last year's mega-hit Scam 1992. "When I came to Bombay in 2004, I had an Engineering degree in my hand and some sort of theatre experience from my hometown. I thought I will be making it big soon but it took almost 16 years to reach this place. The hustle was real, very insightful, and a lot of learning throughout the journey." Interestingly, Gandhi admitted that at one point he set up ten cell sites in Mumbai after taking up some work contract.

 

GUESTS GALORE

 

 

Just like every episode, this one also had three guests including Pratik Gandhi's wife Bhamini Oza Gandhi. They joked around for a while before admitting that he indeed tried his best in cooking. Bhamini revealed that during lockdown he tried to cook a roti but it turned into papad instead.

 

All in all, Star Vs Food featuring Malaika Arora was a decent watch and showed a different side of Scam 1992 star. The theme of all episodes is simple - try to cook something that the stars have never done before.
