Shahid Kapoor pays tribute to late Kabir Singh co-star Kamini Kaushal: “Rest in light”

Veteran actor Kamini Kaushal, a towering figure of Hindi cinema’s golden era, passed away at the age of 98. Known for her remarkable body of work across decades, she continued acting well into her later years, appearing in major contemporary films and earning admiration across generations of actors.

Shahid Kapoor, who worked with her in Kabir Singh (2019), reacted to the news of her death by sharing a brief but heartfelt message on Instagram. Posting a collage featuring Kamini Kaushal from her early years and a recent photograph, Shahid wrote, “Rest in light maam.” The tribute reflected the respect younger actors held for her and the warmth she carried with her on sets.

 

 

Kamini Kaushal’s role in Kabir Singh was small but memorable. Speaking earlier at the Star Screen Awards about her appearance in the film, she had said, “Well, it was a minuscule role. But it was a very nice role, and I think it was very honest and straightforward.”

 

Her final big-screen appearance came in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), where she shared the frame with Aamir Khan. Even in her late nineties, she continued working with passion.
