Saqib Saleem speaks on shedding "Chocolate boy" image for Kakuda: "It was a great genre to start the shift with"

Saqib Saleem is diving headfirst into the world of horror-comedy with his upcoming film Kakuda. This unexpected genre switch promises to be a treat for audiences and a chance for Saqib to showcase his acting versatility.

He tells us, "I had not done a horror comedy before. Also, I get to play this simpleton from a village called Ratori. It was great. I have either been a chocolate boy next door or shown washboard abs or played a sport. Here was a film allowing me to play a simpleton and making me do something I had never done before. It was a great genre to start the shift with."

 

Having a director with clarity of vision was what aided his performance. Talking about Aditya Sarpotdar, who recently delivered a 100 crore film in Munjya against all odds and industry expectations, Saleem tells us,  "Aditya is a very sharp director. He knew exactly how he wanted something. He was seeing it a certain way and was able to precisely convey that to us. It helps that he is a guy with whom work feels like work of passion. I am so glad Munjya is a success because Aditya deserves it. He is brilliant, and works so hard."

 

Speaking of the film, it is slated to release on Zee5 on July 12.
