Priyanka Chopra on protecting Malti : “I’m okay with photos, but my child deserves privacy”

Actor Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about why she and husband Nick Jonas decided to hire security for their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, explaining that while she has chosen to live in the public eye, her child did not.

Speaking in a recent interview with Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch., Priyanka said she understands the curiosity people have about celebrity families, but believes that children deserve privacy and protection.

 

“I chose a public life. Malti didn’t,” she said, stressing that her daughter should not have to face the pressures that come with fame.

 

The actor shared that her decision to increase security came after a concerning incident in which a stranger followed her daughter home. The experience made her rethink how exposed Malti could be in public spaces and reinforced the need to be more cautious.

 

Priyanka explained that while she is comfortable interacting with fans herself, the same openness cannot apply when it comes to her child. “I’m okay with being approached by anyone and taking photos,” she said, adding that the presence of security is mainly to ensure her daughter isn’t photographed or recorded without consent.

 

According to the actor, the rise of smartphones and social media has made it easier for people to capture moments without permission, something that worries her as a parent. She said there have been instances where people tried to photograph or film Malti in public, which prompted her to be more protective.

 

Priyanka and Nick welcomed Malti via surrogacy in 2022 and have since tried to keep their daughter away from excessive public attention. While the couple occasionally shares glimpses of their family life on social media, they have largely maintained boundaries to protect their child’s privacy.

 

Despite her global fame and busy career, Priyanka said ensuring her daughter’s safety and comfort remains her top priority.
