The year of 2022 has kicked off to a delicious start in the Korean music industry. From several debuts like KEP1ER, TRENDZ, to dashing comebacks by groups like ENHYPEN, PENTAGON and more, the month of January was filled to the brim with tasteful musical offerings for the fans. Let’s take a look at some of the wonderful K-Pop comebacks of January 2022.

P1HARMONY – DO IT LIKE THIS

 

P1Harmony’sDo It Like This’ is a quirky trap hip hop song. The group exudes power and pomp with ease. The hook is quite an earworm, be it the verse or the music. It is song that will stay with you long after it has ended.

 

 

 

PENTAGON – FEELIN’ LIKE

 

PENTAGON present a mature side of themselves as they take their readers on a newfound path of understand love. The song ‘Feelin’ Like’ is a groovy R&B number with electro-synth beats. The group dances around expensive sets while professing their love in sultry.

 

 

 

WOOZI (SEVENTEEN) – RUBY

 

After contributing to SEVENTEEN’s discography, WOOZI finally made a solo debut with ‘RUBY’. The artist aptly uses the metaphor of a ruby to express his desire and infatuation. The song opens with ball-room style music and soon descends into semi-rock beats. The song shines brilliantly just like the namesake gemstone.

 

 

 

ONEWE– UNIVERSE_

 

The pop rock band is back again, but this time with a soft pulsing ballad Universe_. The song is a thank you note to the loved ones for their love and also a message that they are always together. It’s a soulful song that warms the listener from within.

 

 

 

KEP1ER – WA DA DA

 

Making a strong debut this year after being scouted from reality series Girls Planet 999, KEP1ER made their way with dance number ‘Wa Da Da’ from their debut EP First Impact.  The house genre-based dance song brings out the energetic and lovely charm of the group through the bass riff.

 

 

 

BAMBAM – SLOW MO

 

After charming the fans with ‘riBBon’, BamBam is back with another pastel-coloured music video for ‘Slow Mo’. It is more R&B where ‘riBBon’ was more pop. It is a joyful romantic number, with the reverb beats adding a dreamy effect in the song.

 

 

 

DEF/JAY B – SUNSET WITH YOU

 

GOT7’s JAY B is celebrating is alternative roots with the album Love, under the moniker Def.. The title track ‘Sunset with You’ takes to concluding the album. The lo-fi and alternate beats evoke a relaxed feeling from the moment the song begins. He sings in hushed and breathy vocals adding to the relaxed vibe. The music video accessorizes the song with sepia themed stills, muted tones, and desolate cityscapes. The visuals and song feel straight out of a slice of life movie.

 

 

 

OMEGA X – LOVE ME LIKE

 

OMEGA X made a stunning comeback with ‘Love Me Like’. The music in the hook is inspired from the hiphop Latin beats and reminds one of Maluma or Ozuna’s songs. The group alternates between the vocal and rap verses and spins a seductive charm.

 

 

 

DRIPPIN– VILLAIN

 

DRIPPIN has made a comeback after a long gap. The septet croons to a set of addictive electro beats. In the song, there is spunk, and there is funk. You will be humming to hook ‘I’m a villain’ in no time!

 

 

 

KARD’s BM – LIE (Lost in Euphoria)

 

BM’s single LIE (Lost in Euphoria) is a great alt rock and rap song. The beats are fluid and BM’s husky vocals do justice to the mood. The inter-spread electric guitar riffs and bass beats complement each other. With this release, BM has once again proven his mettle as an all­-rounder artist.
