Maestro: Bradley Cooper and Matt Bomer share a kiss on New York set of Leonard Bernstein biopic

Bradley Cooper was spotted locking lips with Matt Bomer on the set of their upcoming Netflix biopic Maestro that chronicles the life and relationships of music genius Leonard Bernstein.

As reported by People publication, the actors were photographed kissing on the set of Maestro in New York City Monday, both dressed in what looked to be business attire. Cooper appeared as a younger version of his real-life character in the film, Leonard Bernstein, as he was devoid of the transformational makeup used for Bernstein's older version. However, it is unclear who Bomer is playing in the upcoming Netflix biographical film.

 

The upcoming film marks Cooper's return to directing after making his debut with 2018's A Star Is Born. Late last month, Netflix unveiled first-look photos of Maestro, featuring the nine-time Oscar nominee unrecognizable as an aged Bernstein and Mulligan, who plays the late composer's wife Felicia Montealegre. The film is being produced by Cooper, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Fred Berner, Amy Durning, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

 

As previously reported, Maestro “tells of the complex love story between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Cohn Montealegre. It’s a story that spanned more than 30 years, from the time they met in 1946 at a party, and continuing through two on-off engagements, a 25-year marriage, three children – Jamie, Alexander and Nina – and as Bernstein grappled with his own sexual orientation.”

 

The biographical drama, which will start streaming on Netflix in 2023, also stars Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealegre, the Tony-award winner’s wife and Maya Hawke as Jamie Bernstein, the couple’s eldest daughter. Maestro, which is also co-written by Cooper, will follow the 30-year romance between Bernstein and his wife that continued through two engagements and three children despite the musician being openly gay.
