Over the years, the film industry has made umpteen number of patriotic films. It has been based on the army, navy, historical figures or real-life heroes. This year itself, many mainstream actors have been a part of patriotic films. On Independence Day 2019, we have listed out all the patriotic films that have released this year until now.

Vicky Kaushal in Uri: The Surgical Strike


 


 

The film is based on the surgical strikes that were carried out by the Indian Army after the September 2016 attacks in Uri, Kashmir. It was termed as one of the deadliest attacks in Indian history. Vicky Kaushal headlined the Aditya Dhar directorial as Major Vihaan Shergill and ended up winning National Award for Best Actor. His performance was not only appreciated by the critics, but even the audience also lauded his work and the film went onto become the first blockbuster of 2019.

 

Kangana Ranaut in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi


 


 

Kangana Ranaut starred in one of the highly anticipated films of the year in which she essayed the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Kangana delivered one of the finest performances in her career which was not only challenging but she also did justice to the role. While the film underwent a lot of changes, but both Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut's direction were appreciated.

 

Akshay Kumar in Kesari


 



 

Akshay Kumar essayed the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, the leader of the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi. Kesari, directed by Anurag Singh, was a story of bravery and valour. And once again, the superstar delivered a spectacular performance as he shined in every scene. From getting into the skin of the character to his entire look, it was definitely one of the best performances in his career.

 


 

Ayushmann Khurrana in Article 15


 


 

Ayushmann Khurrana kickstarted the year with the hard-hitting drama in which he played the role of IPS officer Ayan Ranjan. The story revolved around caste-related crimes and was loosely inspired by events like the Badaun rape case and Una flogging incident. The film turned out to be very gripping and Anubhav Sinha brought a very relevant story on the big screen. Ayushmann moved away from quirky roles for a serious drama and excelled in every way possible. He is indeed the modern-day hero we all need.

 

John Abraham in Batla House


 


 

John Abraham has been choosing scripts that he would like to his fans to watch. And once again, this Nikkhil Advani directorial is a real-life tale of officer Sajeev Kumar Yadav who spearheaded the controversial Batla House encounter. The film is set to release on Independence Day 2019 but earlier previews reveal that this is indeed John's finest performance till date. It is his show all the way and his character really keeps you hooked to the screens.

Akshay Kumar has been bringing real life stories to the big screen for a while now. After Airlift, Rustom, Pad Man, Kesari, the actor is co-producing the film Mission Mangal which is being headlined by Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari. The film is the story of the women who helped in the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also called Mangalyaan, carried out by a team of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). With the mission, India became the first Asian nation to reach Martian orbit and the first nation in the world to do so in its maiden attempt. It is releasing on Independence Day 2019.
