EXCLUSIVE: Nora Fatehi reveals how she urged Nikkhil Advani to write a role for her in Batla House after ‘O Saki Saki’ was offered: “I said ‘Sir, let's go step further’”

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Nora Fatehi recalled her conversation with Nikkhil Advani and how it led to her getting a part in Batla House. “With the story of ‘Saki Saki’, what happened was right after ‘Dilbar’, Nikkhil sir offered me this song. He's like, ‘Only you can do this powerful song, etc!’ I'm like, ‘Look, I'm not going to say no to work. I'm not someone who says no to work.’ Work is a blessing in any form that it comes, right? And there are hundreds of thousands of people who would wish to be in my situation and there are a lot of famous actors who wish to do big songs, right? So if it's coming to me, I can’t say no.”

She added, “But, I said ‘Sir, let's elevate. Let's go step further. Another step up, right?’ Try a role with that song even if it's three scenes, just do it. Do it and let me perform just a little bit so that we can go up. Let's not stay here. And he's like, ‘Okay!’ So, he wrote that role that I did in Batla House. So what was beautiful as I went from just doing songs and music videos to now, okay, there's a big song, but there's also a role attached to it. And with an actor like John Abraham in the film. For me, it is an evolution in my career.”

Released in 2019, the film also stars John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur. The story was based on the encounter operation that took place in a building of the same name in Delhi on September 19, 2008. John Abraham essayed Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who spearheaded the police operation.
