Aamer Husain on his role as Felix Ravinstill in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Aamer Husain has been cast as Felix Ravinstill in The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Not only can he be seen in the fan-favorite franchise for the very first time, but he is also one of the first South Asian-American actors to be a part of the cast.

Alongside award winners Viola Davis and Peter Dinklage, the film also sees Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, Josh Anders Rivera and Jason Schwartzman in titular roles.

 

Talking about his character, Aamer Husain said, “Felix is a resident of the Capitol and a student of the Academy. He is one of 24 top-performing seniors at the Academy selected to be a mentor for the 10th Hunger Games. He is assigned the tribute from District 11, Dill, and is the son of President Ravinstill.”

 

When asked about his experience on set, Husain added, “It was really nice to work with actors who were all around the same age and all at slightly different points in our careers. We were able to go through it together, like a family. I loved working with the director, Francis Lawrence, the crew and the whole cast. Everyone was such a joy to work with. It was such an honor to be a part of telling the story that brings us back to Panem.”

 

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a 2023 American dystopian action film directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt. It is based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. It serves as a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012) and is the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film series.

 

Set 64 years before the events of the first film, its plot follows the events that eventually lead a young Coriolanus Snow on the path to becoming the tyrannical leader of Panem, including his relationship with the Hunger Games tribute Lucy Gray Baird during the year of the 10th Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes held its world premiere in Berlin, Germany on November 5, 2023.
