Big disappointments!

 

The two major releases this Eid, KIDNAP and DRONA, have proved disappointments, although KIDNAP is better in U.K. On face-value, the 5-day weekend figure of KIDNAP [£ 2,43,309] may seem impressive, but the fact remains that given the festival period and a long 5-day weekend, everyone was expecting the film to touch approx. £ 3,50,000, but the negative reports have hit the film hard. On the other hand, DRONA is a debacle of epic proportions in U.K.

In the U.S. too, DRONA hasn't lived up to the humungous hype. Even KIDNAP has been slow here.

 

U.K. BOX-OFFICE

 

Weekend: October 3 - 5, 2008.

 

 

• KIDNAP has debuted at No. 15 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 2,43,309 [approx. Rs. 2.02 crores] on 51 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,771. Note:- 5-day weekend figures.





 

• DRONA has debuted at No. 20 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 1,17,854 [approx. Rs. 98.03 lacs] on 56 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 2,105. Note:- 5-day weekend figures.





 

• HASHAR [Punjabi film; last weekend: No. 27, this weekend: No. 40]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 7,383 on 7 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,055. Total: £ 32,091 [approx. Rs. 26.69 lacs].





 

• DURAI [Tamil film] has debuted at No. 48 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 4,214 [approx. Rs. 3.50 lacs] on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 2,107.





 

• MERA PIND [Punjabi film; last weekend: No. 35, this weekend: No. 51]: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected £ 4,068 on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 254. Total: £ 1,89,510 [approx. Rs. 1.57 crores].





 

• SINGH IS KINNG [last weekend: No. 63, this weekend: No. 61]: In its ninth weekend, the film has collected £ 1,516 on 1 screen. Total: £ 13,52,808 [approx. Rs. 11.24 crores].
