Comic book house Vimanika Comics is all set to release its maiden graphic novel The Sixth-The Legend of Karna in July this year. Based on the life of the Mahabharata legend Karna, the 60-page novel will be part of a series of six novels on the warrior king. The novel tells the story of Karna's life right from his birth, youth and coronation to his demise in the war of Mahabharata. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Vimanika Managing Director Karan Vir Arora said, "In the book, a sage narrates the legend of Karna from his birth hood to him becoming the crowned king." The company is also "looking at previous comic books Moksha and The Sixth for animation and live action flicks in the future". The Legend of Karna is priced at Rs.150 for retail and Rs.125 on the company's website. Outlook and Variety will distribute the graphic novel in India while the company is in talks with a possible US distributor. The initial print run will be 5,000 copies. Meanwhile, Vimanika is working on its second graphic novel Dashavatar. The company recently bagged the Golden Cursor Animation Award in the best comic book category for its 2008 release Moksha.
