A top level delegation of the film industry met the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh, on 5th June, pleading for a withdrawal of the 4% Sales Tax imposed on the transfer of Copyright. The Chief Minister has decided to put the matter in abeyance and has asked the industry leaders to sit down with the government to sort out the issue. "It was a wonderful meeting," N.N. Sippy, President of Indian Motion Picture Distributors' Association, told the writer, adding, "we have called off the strike."
