Few celebrity declarations carry the weight of genuine emotion, but Tom Holland's recent words about Zendaya came remarkably close. Appearing on Good Hang With Amy Poehler, the Spider-Man star spoke with disarming candour about his partner, describing her as both an irreplaceable presence in his personal life and the finest actor working in Hollywood right now.
"It's a lifeline, it really is. I couldn't imagine doing what I do without her," Holland told the show, as reported by the Times of India.
Fearless on screen
Holland reserved particular admiration for Zendaya's craft, pointing to two recent performances as proof of her range. Zendaya reprised the role of Rue in the third and final season of Euphoria, a character Holland noted could not be more removed from who she is in real life.
He also cited her turn as Emma opposite Robert Pattinson in The Drama, calling it an entirely different performance delivered with equal intent, passion and drive.
"I think what I love about watching her work as an actress is she's just fearless," he said. "She's just like absolutely 10 toes down, 'I'm going to give this everything'." He added, "I think she's the best actor going. I really think she has something special."
A partner who understands the pressure
Beyond her talent, Holland spoke about the comfort of sharing his professional world with someone who truly grasps its demands. He described the industry as a wild place, full of highs and lows, where the familiarity of a film set gives way to the exposure of a press tour.
"It's so nice to have someone that understands that in such a personal way so that you can talk each other down or you can big each other up," he said.
The couple first crossed paths on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, with their relationship confirmed publicly in November 2021 ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marriage speculation intensified earlier this year after Zendaya's stylist Law Roach told a media outlet the nuptials had "already happened" and the press had "missed it," a claim amplified when Zendaya was photographed wearing a gold band at Paris Fashion Week.
Holland and Zendaya are next set to appear together in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, releasing July 17, followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31, 2026.
