The world of Mirzapur is set to make the jump from streaming to cinemas with Mirzapur: The Movie, scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 4, 2026. As excitement builds around the project, actor Ali Fazal has shared fresh details about what audiences can expect from the film and how it has been designed to appeal to both existing fans and new viewers.
Ali, who reprises his popular role as Guddu Pandit, recently spoke about the film's approach and the challenge of adapting a successful web series into a feature film. According to the actor, the makers have ensured that viewers unfamiliar with the series can still follow and enjoy the story.
“We have just finished the film, for the first time in India a show is turning into a film, and the fun part is it’s a standalone film, it’s not a sequel, the original cast from Season 1 is back and it beautifully justifies itself. People who have not seen Mirzapur, it will work and people who have seen it, the logic will fit,” Ali said.
The film will bring back several key faces associated with the series, including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu. Alongside the returning cast, the movie is also expected to introduce new characters and fresh storylines that expand the narrative beyond what viewers have seen on streaming platforms.
Mirzapur: The Movie is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. The film is directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner.
The film is slated to release in cinemas worldwide on September 4, 2026.
