Actor Randeep Hooda has opened up about the long-standing perception that he is blunt and difficult in the film industry. In a recent interview with Zoom, the actor spoke candidly about how his straightforward personality was often misunderstood in Bollywood.

According to Randeep, many assumptions about him stemmed from cultural differences and the direct communication style commonly associated with people from Haryana. The actor explained that he never intentionally disrespected filmmakers and maintained that most misunderstandings stemmed from how his reactions were interpreted on film sets.

Talking about how gossip spreads within the industry, Randeep shared, “I did not realise that the mouthpiece of the chatter that goes on in movies comes from assistant directors. So when you’re getting ready and something is not right, maybe the look isn’t right or you’re not getting something correct before going to the set, and there’s an assistant director knocking every minute saying, ‘Sir, ready?’ after you’ve already told them to give you five minutes, then obviously the Jat in you comes out.”

The actor also admitted that his direct way of speaking was often mistaken for aggression. “I think it was blown out of proportion. Also, because I was not mixing around with people too much, those Chinese whispers grew beyond their merit. The film industry is full of fragile glass egos and insecurities. I was not diplomatic,” Randeep said.

He further explained how his communication style has evolved over the years. Recalling how he earlier expressed dissatisfaction on sets, the actor added, “Being from Haryana, you could say, ‘Arrey, kya bakwas scene likha hai yaar,’ but I’m talking to the director, and he knows where I’m coming from. Whereas now, I would say, ‘Hey brother, listen, it’s all great, but I’m not comfortable doing this.’ But I still mean the same thing.”

Randeep also clarified that he has not had major conflicts with filmmakers in his career apart from his widely discussed fallout with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Despite industry perceptions, the actor suggested that many incidents were amplified because of gossip culture within Bollywood rather than actual disputes.

On the professional front, Randeep Hooda was most recently seen in Inspector Avinash Season 2. Directed by Neerraj Pathak, the series featured an ensemble cast including Urvashi Rautela, Amit Sial, Abhimanyu Singh, Shalin Bhanot, Rajniesh Duggal and Freddy Daruwala. The show is currently streaming on JioHotstar and received mixed reviews following its release.
