“Alia Bhatt is out there representing India”: Rahul Vaidya and Aly Goni DEFEND actress amid Cannes 2026 backlash

en Bollywood News “Alia Bhatt is out there representing India”: Rahul Vaidya and Aly Goni DEFEND actress amid Cannes 2026 backlash

Alia Bhatt has been at the centre of online discussions during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2026. While the actress received praise for her fashion choices on the international stage, a section of social media users criticised comments she made during an interview about gender dynamics in the Indian film industry. The debate further intensified amid online comparisons involving Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s presence at Cannes and discussions around brand campaigns featuring Alia alongside international celebrities.

Amid the ongoing social media discourse, singer Rahul Vaidya and actor Aly Goni came out in support of Alia Bhatt through their Instagram Stories.

Rahul Vaidya criticised the negativity directed at the actress and questioned the growing tendency of social media users to judge celebrities harshly online. In his post, he wrote, “Funny how people sitting with zero achievements become fashion critics, Cannes analysts, and global PR experts overnight.”

He further praised Alia for representing India on an international platform. “At least Alia Bhatt is out there representing India on one of the biggest global platforms, looking absolutely stunning, owning her space, and making her presence felt,” Rahul stated.

The singer also addressed the discussions surrounding visibility and public attention at the event. “Not every moment needs screaming crowds and manufactured hype to validate someone’s worth. Real stars don’t beg for attention, they carry it naturally,” he added.

Rahul Vaidya also expressed disappointment over the way successful women are often targeted online. “The obsession some portals have with tearing successful women down for clicks is honestly embarrassing now. Negativity gets views, but talent, hard work, and grace always outlive cheap headlines,” he wrote.

Ending his note on a supportive note, Rahul added, “She looked beautiful. She IS a huge star. And most importantly, she’s talented enough to not need validation from Instagram comment sections. Maybe instead of constantly trying to humble successful people, learn to appreciate Indians shining globally.”

Actor Aly Goni also shared a message backing Alia Bhatt and urged people to celebrate Indian artists achieving global recognition. “It’s sad when our own people try to pull down someone who has worked so hard to put India on the global stage,” Aly wrote on Instagram.

Praising Alia’s presence at Cannes, he added, “Alia Bhatt has reached places many only dream of, representing our country at Cannes with grace and pride. Instead of mocking and trolling, we should celebrate and support those who make India shine internationally.”

Aly concluded his message by encouraging positivity and unity. “We rise higher when we uplift our own, not when we try to demean them,” he stated.
