Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson are set to headline the upcoming psychological thriller Verity, with the teaser trailer now officially released. Based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, the film is scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on October 2, 2026.
The teaser offers a first glimpse into the tense and unsettling world of the story, which has gained a strong following among readers since the book’s release. Known for writing It Ends With Us and several other popular titles, Hoover’s work has increasingly drawn attention from film studios for screen adaptations.
Verity follows renowned author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, and Lowen Ashleigh, portrayed by Dakota Johnson. Lowen is a struggling writer who moves to the secluded Crawford estate after being hired to ghostwrite for Verity.
As Lowen settles into the home, she reportedly discovers autobiographical notes that appear to contain disturbing confessions linked to Verity’s life and marriage. The story then explores blurred lines between truth and fiction, manipulation and attraction, as Lowen becomes increasingly drawn into the family’s secrets.
Josh Hartnett also stars in the film as Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband, adding another central figure to the psychological drama. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures International. With its bestselling source material, established cast and suspense-driven premise, Verity is expected to be one of the notable thriller releases of the upcoming festive season. The film will be released in cinemas only on October 2, 2026.
