For the last few years, it has become common to hear actors say that acting talent alone is not enough; one also needs a huge number of followers on Instagram. Though several casting directors have assured that this is not the case, the perception continues to persist. Recently, actor Manmeet Singh uploaded a video on his Instagram handle, in which he is seen with veteran actor Kanwarjit Paintal. In the video, Paintal claims that since he doesn’t have enough followers on social media, he doesn’t feel he can be called an actor.

The video begins with Manmeet Singh asking Kanwarjit Paintal, “Are you an actor?” The veteran performer replies, “Ji, nahin.” Manmeet reasons, “But sir, we have seen you act.” To which Paintal explains, “I don’t have followers on Instagram. Hence, I am not an actor!”
Manmeet Singh then asks him, “Do you mean those who don't have enough followers don't qualify as actors?” Kanwarjit Paintal smiles and says, “They absolutely don't!” As Manmeet Singh attempts to end the video by stating “Lots of love,” Kanwarjit Paintal interrupts and jokes, “And also lots of followers!”

As of 4:30 pm April 28, the video has crossed 8 lakh views and will soon hit the 1 million mark. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Manmeet Singh and asked him when this video was shot. He said, “This was recorded in 2023, on the sets of a film named Hukus Bukus. However, Paintal sir and I are in regular touch and we keep talking about it.”
Manmeet continued, “I feel that such legendary actors should have a larger number of followers on Instagram. We were doing masti on the sets and planned this with sir. He took it sportingly and it was great fun to shoot this video. He’s a very cool and genuinely down-to-earth person. As an actor, he's first-class, which everyone knows.”
