Soha Ali Khan continues to build All About Her as a platform for open and thoughtful conversations. In the latest episode of her YouTube show, she turns the focus to food and how it shapes identity, memory, culture, and emotion. Joining her for the discussion are chefs Garima Arora and Ranveer Brar, who share their experiences from the culinary world while also speaking about the realities of professional kitchens and changing food culture.

During the conversation, Soha asked Ranveer Brar whether he had observed any bias toward men in the industry and why male chefs often seem to receive more recognition. Responding to the question, Ranveer said, “We live in a very patriarchal system, and the idea of control that defines professional kitchens is deeply rooted in that.”

He went on to explain how the structure of commercial kitchens can differ from the spirit of cooking itself. “Cooking, however, is not about control, it’s about letting go, but in commercial kitchens control often overrides everything.” Ranveer also reflected on how men and women are often conditioned differently when it comes to handling responsibilities. “As men, we tend to focus on managing a few variables at a time, while women have historically balanced multiple roles with ease.”

He concluded by saying that when cooking is viewed purely as the craft of creating good food, there is no inherent advantage for men. “When you remove this narrative of control and focus on what cooking truly is, about creating great food, men don’t really have an upper hand, in fact, they don’t have an upper hand at all.”

The episode continues Soha Ali Khan’s approach of blending personal themes with broader cultural discussions. Through conversations with experienced voices, All About Her aims to create a space that feels accessible, reflective, and relevant. The latest episode featuring Garima Arora and Ranveer Brar is now available on YouTube.
