Bhooth Bangla debutant Perin Malde calls working with Priyadarshan ‘surreal’: “It’s even beyond a dream”

The actor spoke about learning on set and collaborating with the veteran filmmaker for his Bollywood debut.

Actor Perin Malde is set to make his Bollywood debut with Bhooth Bangla, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan. As anticipation builds around the film, the newcomer has opened up about his experience of working with the acclaimed director, describing it as both surreal and deeply rewarding.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Perin admitted that the reality of being part of a Priyadarshan film is yet to fully sink in. “I honestly still haven't processed the fact that I am in a movie directed by Priyadarshan sir. His films have been my comfort movies. I’ve watched them in my sad and happy days. The fact that now I AM in one of his films, it just feels incredibly surreal,” he said.

The actor also highlighted how rare such a chance is, especially for someone at the start of their career. “There are so many established actors in this industry who are still waiting to work with him. And I, being this absolutely new kid on the block, get this opportunity is just, it's a blessing. It's even beyond a dream that an actor can have.”

Sharing insights from the sets, Perin described the experience as a valuable learning curve. “Being on a Priyadarshan set is pretty much like being in a film school. It’s different kind of filmmaking, there’s so much to learn even for someone who has been on sets all his life. If I can say it in Hindi, 'Main gyan ke samundar mein thaa.'”

He further praised the filmmaker’s working style, noting his clarity and precision behind the camera. “He is so sure and clear about what he wants. There are no extra takes. He has an incredible amount of trust in his actors. He knows exactly what he wants out of them in every frame. He knows exactly what his actors are going to deliver to him.”

Calling him a legend, Perin also acknowledged Priyadarshan’s extensive body of work. “He’s an absolute legend - even for the top directors we have in this industry. Over 95 films across genres with probably almost 50 blockbusters. I don't think any other director in this world has this record. And now he’s back with a classic horror comedy that I’m a part of - this feeling has still not sunk in.”

With Bhooth Bangla, Perin Malde marks a significant milestone in his career, stepping into the industry with a project that brings together a seasoned filmmaker and the promise of a classic horror-comedy narrative.
