Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut recently reacted to filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s social media post tied to Dhurandhar 2, adding a personal note that has drawn attention online.
Varma, who marked his birthday with members of the film industry, shared a picture of himself cutting a cake, reportedly decorated with references to his iconic films and captioned it with a striking line: “Stabbing my past with a knife called Dhurandhar 2.” The remark appeared to signal a symbolic departure from his earlier work while also promoting the sequel.
Responding to the post on X, Kangana Ranaut shared a detailed message reflecting on Varma’s contribution to Indian cinema. She wrote, “Sir your work and films have greatly contributed to our cinema and people’s lives, the time they enjoyed with their friends and families in the theatres, we didn’t have cinemas in our small village but we too saw your films on DVD players in those days and day dreamed about Mumbai and various aspects that your cinema revealed to our tender minds at that impressionable stage. You have made our lives/experiences richer through your stories. Today also you never shy away from appreciating others work which is very gracious of you, thanks.”

Varma has also been vocal in his praise for Dhurandhar, even referring to filmmaker Aditya Dhar as his new “guru.” Emphasising his admiration for the project, he stated, “My one line advise to all film students is ‘Leave your institutes and spend that money and time in #Dhurandhar2 theatres’.”
