The teaser of September 21 has been unveiled, offering a quiet yet powerful glimpse into a story that explores the emotional complexities of Alzheimer’s disease. Marking the debut of 22-year-old filmmaker Karen Kshiti Suvarna, the film has already begun drawing attention for its mature and nuanced storytelling approach.
Set against the backdrop of memory loss and identity, the teaser introduces audiences to a man gradually losing his grip on reality. Played by Pravin Singh Sisodia, the character’s journey is portrayed with restraint, avoiding melodrama while focusing on subtle, deeply affecting moments. The performance, even in this brief glimpse, stands out for its quiet intensity and emotional depth.
What distinguishes September 21 is its minimalistic storytelling. Rather than relying on dramatic highs, the teaser leans into stillness and silence, allowing the weight of the subject to unfold organically. Speaking about her vision, Karen Kshiti Suvarna shared, “I wanted the audience to feel that stillness and the emotional weight that comes with it,” highlighting her intent to present Alzheimer’s in an intimate and grounded manner.
The film features an ensemble cast including Priyanka Upendra, Zarina Wahab, Amit Behl, Ajit Shidhaye, Sachin Patekar, and Ricky Rudra, each contributing to what appears to be a layered and character-driven narrative.
Backed by Humara Movie, Visica Films, and FMD Productions, with Films Max as co-producer, the project also brings together a diverse creative team. The screenplay is penned by Raj Shekhar, while music is composed by Vinayy Chandraa. Adding an international association, actor and TV host Frederic de Vos is attached as associate producer.
Notably, September 21 has already made its presence felt on the festival circuit, having been showcased in the Work-in-Progress category at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). This early recognition has further amplified curiosity around the film.
With its understated teaser and sensitive subject, September 21 positions itself as a film that aims not only to tell a story but also to spark conversations around Alzheimer’s and its emotional realities. The film is slated for a theatrical release in May 2026.
