Supergirl trailer introduces Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El; Jason Momoa debuts in DCU

en Bollywood News Supergirl trailer introduces Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El; Jason Momoa debuts in DCU

The official full trailer of Supergirl arrived on March 31, offering the most detailed look yet at the next chapter in the rebooted DC Universe overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Positioned as the second major feature in DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters after Superman, the film is scheduled for theatrical and IMAX release on June 26, 2026.

The nearly three-minute trailer presents a cosmic revenge story that blends emotional character work with large-scale interstellar action, while introducing a more hardened version of Kara Zor-El than audiences have previously seen on screen.

Milly Alcock leads a darker take on Supergirl

Milly Alcock, known for House of the Dragon, steps into the role of Supergirl with a portrayal shaped by trauma and survival rather than optimism. The trailer opens with a conversation between Kara and David Corenswet’s Superman, establishing the emotional contrast between the cousins. While Clark believes in people’s goodness, Kara is shown as someone who sees the harsher truths of the universe.

Flashbacks to Krypton’s destruction, a solemn Kryptonian funeral procession and a striking visual of Kara screaming alone in space point to the film’s emphasis on her personal history. These moments mirror the emotional tone of the original comic storyline.

A revenge journey across the galaxy

The trailer confirms that the narrative closely follows the arc of Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s acclaimed 2022 miniseries. Kara joins forces with Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, on a mission to track down the ruthless Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Matthias Schoenaerts appears as the antagonist, whose actions set the revenge story in motion. Their pursuit unfolds across planets and star systems, giving the trailer a strong cosmic-adventure identity. The film also features David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, adding emotional depth to her Kryptonian background.

Jason Momoa debuts as Lobo in the DCU

One of the trailer’s most talked-about reveals is Jason Momoa’s first extended appearance as Lobo. The character is shown striding through a corridor before joining the action in what appears to be a major supporting role within the story’s larger interstellar conflict.

His introduction signals a broader expansion of the DCU’s cosmic side following the grounded introduction of Superman in the previous film.

Space-western tone with emotional grounding

Directed by Craig Gillespie, whose earlier work includes Cruella, the film leans into a space-western atmosphere reminiscent of the colorful energy associated with Guardians of the Galaxy. The trailer mixes large-scale spaceship battles, intergalactic travel and stylized action with quieter scenes that highlight Kara’s loneliness and anger.

Krypto the Superdog also plays a visible role throughout the footage and appears to be directly connected to the central conflict involving Krem.

Another recurring visual thread shows Kara living a messy, restless life on Earth, listening to music on headphones and navigating isolation before committing to her larger purpose in space.

Music and emotional tone shape the trailer’s identity

The trailer is underscored by What Becomes of the Brokenhearted by Jimmy Ruffin, which reinforces the story’s emotional foundation. The soundtrack choice complements imagery of grief, displacement and determination that runs through the footage.

This tone marks a shift from the earlier teaser released in December 2025, which leaned more heavily into Kara’s rebellious personality and lighter character moments. The new trailer instead provides a clearer look at the plot, supporting characters and the stakes driving her journey.

With its mix of character-focused storytelling, cosmic spectacle and the introduction of major DCU players like Lobo, Supergirl continues to expand the scale and direction of DC Studios’ Chapter One slate ahead of its June 2026 release.
