Taking to social media, Gaurav posted photographs of the notes written nearly a month after he relocated from Delhi to pursue acting. Reflecting on the passage of time, he wrote that it had been 28 years since he first shared those updates with his family, describing the journey since then as filled with both challenges and milestones across television, films, advertising, theatre, radio, and digital platforms.

In his caption, he wrote, “This letter to my parents – 3rd Dec 1998 .. less than a month that I moved to Mumbai .. this is 28 years ago .. so no emails, Letters .. of course after that lots tv, some films, ad films, musical play, Radio, TikTok, Reels .. been a lovely journey with ups and downs .. In one of the letters, Gaurav had reassured his parents about settling into the city despite financial uncertainty at the time. He wrote: “Dear Mumma and Papa, How are you guys? I’m really well over here. Nothing has materialised on the money front for me, but I hope to do well soon. There’s a lot of work here compared to Delhi.”

He also mentioned rehearsing in the evenings for the musical Man of La Mancha, which he described as a prestigious production, offering a glimpse into his early theatre commitments while trying to establish himself in Mumbai.

The letters further reflected his modest living situation in the city. Gaurav noted that he was sharing a small cottage with a friend to manage expenses, while also keeping track of daily costs such as telephone, electricity, gas, water, and food. In another line from the correspondence, he wrote: “Mumma and Papa, the future is bright but I still have a lot to learn.”

The actor’s post arrives at a time when his performance in the Dhurandhar films has introduced him to a wider audience, drawing renewed attention to a career that spans nearly three decades across multiple formats of performance.
