Alia Bhatt and producer Shaheen Bhatt promoted their film Don't Be Shy at Prime Video’s It Starts Here event and also released the first look teaser poster of their coming-of-age film. Karan Johar was the host and he raised laughs as he interacted with the team.
Alia Bhatt said “This is a big moment for us. We are a small but very passionate new production company – Eternal Sunshine Productions. When we started out, Shaheen and I decided that we’d like to give as much sunshine to the movies that the movies have given to us. Don't Be Shy is a film that we literally cannot wait for the audience to see. It wouldn’t have been possible without our partners, Vikesh Bhutani from Chalkboard Entertainment and our executive producer, Ankita.”
Karan Johar then called director Sreeti Mukerji to come on stage. Alia hooted as her name was announced, while KJo added, “I have personal love, affection and history with Sreeti.”
He explained the reason behind it, “I know Sreeti because she was a part of my core team and my creative support system on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). The reason why she lost all that weight is because she worked on Brahmastra (2022) for 7 years! She is still in that trauma mode.”
As Alia, Shaheen and Sreeti Mukerji laughed, KJo told the young director, “All our sympathies with you, sweetheart. We promise that part 2 will not take 7 years!”
Besides Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Brahmastra, Sreeti Mukerji was the assistant director on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013).
Later, Nikhil Madhok, Head of Indian Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios and co-producer Grishma Shah also joined on stage and they posed for the photographers.
Besides Don't Be Shy, Alia Bhatt has been the co-producer of Darlings (2022), executive producer of Poachers (2023) and producer of Jigra (2024).
