Netflix’s Kohrra Season 2 has been earning praise for its layered writing and strong performances by Mona Singh and Barun Sobti. But amid the gripping narrative, some viewers noticed an unexpected surprise, a brief cameo by Jaideep Ahlawat.
The appearance was not promoted in advance, making it a quiet treat for attentive audiences. The cameo also marks another collaboration between Ahlawat and creator Sudip Sharma, with whom he has shared a long creative association. The duo previously worked together on the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series Paatal Lok, where Ahlawat’s portrayal of Hathi Ram Chaudhary became a defining performance in his career.
Speaking about the surprise appearance, Ahlawat said, “Working with Sudip Bhai doesn’t even feel like work anymore, so when the opportunity arose, I just had to take it. Sudip Bhai had no clue that I would be playing the role of the railway lineman, but our shoot schedules crossed, I discussed it with Gunjit and Diggy and thought this would be such an interesting bit.”
He added with a laugh, “I don’t think Sudip Bhai is allowed to make a crime procedural drama without me anymore! But seriously, Kohrra is a rare gem in storytelling, and I was grateful I could be a part of it somehow, even if it might be hard to catch on your first watch!”
Ahlawat is known for choosing grounded, character-driven projects, from Raazi to Paatal Lok, often gravitating towards intense narratives rooted in realism. His fleeting presence in Kohrra Season 2 feels less like stunt casting and more like an organic extension of an ongoing creative bond.
