Kapil Sharma, Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Parul Gulati, Tridha Choudhury, Ayesha Khan, director Anukalp Goswami and producers Ratan Jain, Abbas-Mustan and Ajit Andhare attended the launch of the trailer of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 at a multiplex in Mumbai. 2 days before the event, the legendary Dharmendra passed away. Kapil had a special bond with the deceased personality; the latter was the first one to appear on Comedy Nights With Kapil in 2013. His presence motivated other celebs to follow suit and soon, the show became a runaway success.
Kapil Sharma spoke about his love for Dharmendra at the event, “We all know what Dharam ji meant to us. Everyone feels like someone of their family has passed away. When I lost my father, I was 22. Baap se jab seekhne ki umar hoti hai, tab mere pita chale gaye. I did not spend that much time with him.”
He then said, “We wanted to start our show, but no one knew what it was all about. The production house and the channel were trying to get a celeb, but no actor was ready to come on the show. At that time, I met Dharam paaji on a flight for the first time. We were flying to Toronto. We became thick friends. You won’t believe, uss flight mein Dharam ji ne humko jokes sunaaye!”
Kapil added, “This episode gave me the motivation to approach Dharam paaji. I asked for his appointment and met him. He did not ask anything at all about the show. I just said, ‘Paaji, main bana raha hoon pehli baar aur main chahta hoon ki aap aaye as a guest’. At that point, his film was up for release (Yamla Pagla Deewana 2; 2013) and he was quite busy. Yet, he told Poonam in his team, ‘Yeh mera beta hai. Isko date nikaal ke do kaise bhi karke’ (smiles).”
Kapil Sharma continued, “For me, it was like losing a father once again. Those who are born have to go someday; that’s the ultimate truth. Lekin jo acche log hote hai, unke liye mann mein khayal aata hai ki thoda waqt kaash aur mil jaata aur kaash ek mulaqat aur ho jaati.”
He ended his answer by saying, “He lived like a king. There’ll be nobody like him. Whenever we remember him, it’s obvious that there will be a smile on our faces. I love him. We should have huge round applause for Dharam paaji!”
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 releases in cinemas on December 12.
