Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi: Women in power, Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande and others pout with happiness over teaser response

We FINALLY got a glimpse of the ambitious film of Kangana Ranaut on Rani Laxmibai titled Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi. The film which stars the actress in the lead role is a historical drama and features her in the role of a warrior queen for the first time. Now that the teaser released, it gathered momentum over the strong female protagonists portrayed in the film. And hence, celebrating the positive response, the girls on the sets of Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi including Kangana and Ankita Lokhande celebrated the moment.

Well, by now, many of the readers would be aware that Ankita Lokhande of Pavitra Rishta fame is expected to make her Bollywood debut with Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi. She essays the strong role of Jhalkarbai, who was one of the closest associates of the queen. Recently we got a glimpse of her avatar along with another actress Unnatii Davaral. Besides the trio, the picture also featured a couple of other members from the cast.

While Kangana is not there on social media, her team on the platform shared this adorable picture of the girls looking stunning in their respective Maharashtrian looks. Not surprisingly it has gone viral on these platforms. Interestingly, this will be the first time where Kangana is playing the role of a warrior queen in a period historical drama.

Rani Laxmibai aka Manikarnika is known for her courage and valor during the 1857 revolt which saw her fighting against the British army for freedom. It was one of the first major revolts of India against the East India Company.

Besides Kangana and Ankita, the film also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Zeeshan Ayub, TV actress Radha Bhatt, Mishti amongst others. The film, directed by Radha Krisha Jagarlamudi aka Krish, is slated to release on January 25, right before India’s Republic Day on January 26.
