Badrinath Ki Dulhania has done it. The film has entered the Rs. 100 Crore Club in 2 weeks flat. On its second Thursday, the film brought in Rs. 2.05 crore more and with this the overall number now stands at Rs. 100.74 crore. This is a remarkable feat for a film that has been made at a cost of just Rs. 45 crore (including marketing and promotion) with a good chunk of moolah already coming in from satellite and music sales. The theatrical revenue has ensured that the film is a Superhit and now it is of academic interest to see how far does it go beyond this milestone.
The film should cross the lifetime business of Alia Bhatt's 2 States [Rs. 102 crore] today and Varun Dhawan's ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2 [Rs. 107 crore] over the weekend. The Shashank Khaitan directed film would then turn out to be Alia's biggest grosser ever and Varun's biggest grosser ever as a solo lead.
Meanwhile, last week's releases have hardly managed to make a dent at the Box Office. Trapped was the most appreciated of the lot (in the niche segment) and stands at Rs. 2.29 crore after Week One. This is similar to what Phobia, which belonged to similar genre, had collected in its first week.
Machine is a Box Office disaster with Rs. 3.05 crore coming after the first week. This is lesser than the Day One numbers of Abbas-Mustan's biggest Box Office disappointment till date, Players, which had fetched Rs. 4.7 crore on its Day One!
Aa Gaya Hero is a disaster too with Week One collections standing at Rs. 1.05 crore. This is much lower than even the least possible numbers that one would have expected from a comeback film of Govinda.
