Amidst superstar Khans who occupy the top positions generally in any celebrity list considering their popularity, it was a surprise to see Bollywood’s MS Dhoni, Sushant Singh Rajput leading the list in 2016. He topped Google’s top trending celebrity in 2016 leaving behind some famous Bollywood personalities in the list.

However, it is equally a known fact that along with some positivity, there could have been a couple of minor controversies or certain major changes that may have made him a trending celeb.
Sushant Singh Rajput, prior to the release of his box office blockbuster, was in news constantly after the media continued to speculate about his break-up with long time live-in girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. After constant rumours about their separation, Sushant indeed confirmed that they decided to end their relation but did not specify or elaborate about the reason. On the other hand, rumour mills continued to buzz about his alleged affair with his Raabta co-star Kriti Sanon and there were stories about them getting cozy and so on that spread like wild fire via gossip columns.
Professionally too, Sushant was in news for his alleged fallout with Aditya Chopra or rather Yash Raj who managed his talent and projects earlier. Apparently the lead role of Dharam in Befikre which is played by Ranveer Singh was initially promised to Sushant but it failed to work out. This had further fueled up rumours of a professional tiff between the producer and the actor, though neither of them ever spoke about it.
While Sushant Singh Rajput left behind the likes of some superstars like Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh, the other young celebrities in the top 10 list included Pulkit Samrat, Vicky Kaushal, and Harshvardhan Kapoor among others.
