While Aankhen 2 was announced with much fanfare, we recently heard that Gaurang Doshi had taken off to South Africa for a recce. Now that the producer is back, we hear that this time around the film will revolve around a heist abroad.

Readers may recall that Aankhen starring Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen was about a bank heist in India. Now we hear that the scenario has been shifted to a casino in Johannesburg. Talking about the place, Gaurang mentioned that since it is supposedly the largest casino in the world, in the film, it had to be a grand one. He also revealed that they are the first to have sought the permission to shoot there, that is Emperors Palace in Johannesburg and have been given the time slot of 9am to 6pm every day for the film.

Elaborating on the details of the sequel, Gaurang added that Anil, who plays the antagonist, will be seen in the character of the owner of casino and will have a contemporary look with an Italian yet vintage touch. We had earlier also mentioned that the story will take off from Amitabh Bachchan who was arrested in the prequel, coming out of jail. So even the megastar’s look will differ from the first instalment and he will be seen in an angry young man avatar but alterations will be made according to his age. As far as the blind men are concerned, the roles will be played by Arshad Warsi, Vidyut Jamwal and it is only Arjun Rampal who is retained from the prequel. Their looks have been designed by Asa Kazingmei.

Besides them, the Anees Bazmee directorial Aankhen 2 also marks the debut of South actress Regina Cassandra and the film is slated to go on floor in February. After a schedule in Mumbai, the team will shift to South Africa and Europe in April.
