I really really wanted to love "Welcome." With Anil, Akshay and Katrina, what's not to love? But I can't say I did, and I'm angry that I can't say that I loved the movie. I drove quite a distance, too, to see this. I was sadly disappointed, and it mostly definitely wasn't paisa vasool. It needed a much better editing than it had. The movie is about 30 minutes too long, the slap stick is drawn out to the point of being tiring, and it's quite obvious that the money spent to make this movie was given to Anil, Nana, Akshay and Katrina. It definitely wasn't spent on quality special effects (I've seen better rear screen projection in 1970s films). And please, this is the 21st century. The cheesy animation of popping eyeballs and beating hearts shouldn't even be a consideration in a film anymore. It's a moronic device to create humor that worked only in the 80's. And was this movie just about Anil and Nana? Because both Akshay and Katrina have very little do to. Actually, both Katrina and Mallika were little more than pretty wallpaper in the film. The obvious chemistry between Akshay and Katrina isn't evident in this film. In fact, the two of them, as a couple supposely in love, really takes a "back seat" to the slapstick mafia of Anil and Nana. That's not what the movie advertised to me. I suppose I missed the point. "Welcome" had some very funny moments, definitely. I laughed outloud more than once. But after a while, it because tiresome and drawn out. I really hate to say that I didn't like this movie. I had looked so foward to it.
