In a crossover no one saw coming, iconic Indian filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli is making waves in the gaming world with a surprise cameo in the much-awaited Japanese video game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Rajamouli, best known for directing cinematic giants like Baahubali and RRR, is now stepping into the immersive realm of video games — thanks to a creative collaboration with legendary Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima. While in Japan to promote RRR, Rajamouli visited Kojima Productions, and the meeting turned into something truly unexpected. Kojima personally scanned Rajamouli’s likeness to feature him as a character in the sequel to the critically acclaimed Death Stranding.

 

Kojima took to social media to share the experience, posting photos from the studio and writing, "Director S.S. Rajamouli visited KJP!!! We have scanned him. RRR" and added multiple emojis, sending fans of both gaming and Indian cinema into a frenzy. In a recent statement, Rajamouli opened up about the surreal experience: "I just sensed something magical was in the making.".

 

 

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the highly anticipated follow-up to Kojima’s genre-defying 2019 hit. Known for its rich storytelling, cinematic visuals, and philosophical depth, the new installment features Hollywood stars like Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and Elle Fanning — and now, a touch of Tollywood flair with Rajamouli’s cameo.
