National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is riding high on the success of her latest film, Uppu Kappurambu, which is currently streaming on Prime Video. The Telugu-language satire has garnered strong acclaim for its offbeat premise, engaging humor, and heartfelt performances. Starring opposite Suhas, Keerthy plays Apoorva, a reluctant village chief caught in the middle of an unusual crisis — a sudden shortage of burial space.

Keerthy Suresh calls Uppu Kappurambu a ‘much-needed breather’ after intense roles; says, “What drew me to it was its unique blend of satire and heart”

In a departure from her intense dramatic roles, Keerthy describes Uppu Kappurambu as a refreshing experience that allowed her to embrace a lighter side of storytelling. “What drew me to Uppu Kappurambu was its unique blend of satire and heart,” said Keerthy Suresh, speaking about what intrigued her most about the project.

The actress also revealed that the tone of the film helped her decompress after wrapping a heavier film project. “The genre of the film gets on to you at some point, and you have to stay conscious about it. I had finished shooting for a very intense film before starting Uppu Kappurambu, so working on this film felt like a much-needed breather,” she stated.

Despite the film being shot in just 28 days, Keerthy noted that she didn’t want the shoot to end. The actress went on to add, “Shooting for this film was just like being at home — completely relaxed. When the shoot wrapped up, I was actually a bit upset; I did not want it to end... That’s what makes you feel light and happy.”

Reflecting on her role, Keerthy shared, “Apoorva is a refreshingly different character. She’s idealistic, determined, and a little out of her depth. It was an absolute joy to bring her character to life, especially in a world so rooted in our rural culture. The film uses humour and local flavour to spotlight something serious, and that’s what makes it hit home.”

Uppu Kappurambu is directed by Ani. I.V. Sasi and produced by Radhika Lavu under the banner Ellanar Films Pvt Ltd. The film’s ensemble cast includes Suhas, Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari, and is now streaming in Telugu with dubs available in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
