Killers of the Flower Moon: Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s historical drama set for release on October 20

Apple has officially set the release date for Martin Scorsese’s next adaptation film Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser and more. The historical drama will open in limited theaters starting October 6 and then have a wide release on October 20.

According to Variety, Paramount Pictures will partner with Apple on the theatrical release of the movie. Scorsese directs the film from a script that he wrote with Eric Roth. The film is based on the 2017 novel Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by journalist David Grann.

 

Leonardo DiCaprio will headline the ensemble cast that includes Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and John Lithgow.  “When oil is discovered in 1920s Oklahoma under Osage Nation land, the Osage people are murdered one by one — until the FBI steps in to unravel the mystery,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

 

Being produced by Apple Original Films, Killers of the Flower Moon will stream on Apple TV+ at an unspecified date following its theatrical release. The film was produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way.

 

Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi are attached as producers with DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Sommer, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers.
