Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan gave a heartfelt shoutout to Sunil Narine after the veteran cricketer scripted history in the Indian Premier League. On May 3, 2026, Narine became the first overseas player to reach 200 IPL wickets, marking a significant milestone in his long-standing association with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Taking to social media, Shah Rukh Khan, who co-owns KKR, celebrated Narine’s achievement with a warm and personal note. He wrote, "Sunil, my friend… here’s to 15 seasons… over 200 wickets… 3 titles and many more with the @kkriders franchise around the globe!!! You are a magician and we love you like our own family. Narine’s feat places him among an elite group of bowlers in IPL history. He is only the third player overall to cross the 200-wicket mark, following Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Since making his debut in 2012, Narine has remained a one-franchise player, contributing consistently to KKR’s success with both ball and bat.

 

 

 

The post shared by Shah Rukh Khan was accompanied by a candid photograph featuring the actor alongside Narine in an indoor setting. The image captures a relaxed moment between the two, with Narine seen placing an arm around the actor’s shoulder, reflecting the camaraderie they share off the field.

 

KKR’s strong performance in the ongoing 2026 season adds further context to the celebration. After an inconsistent start, the team has regained momentum and currently sits among the top four in the league standings. Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, the franchise has secured three consecutive wins and is emerging as a serious contender for the playoffs.

 

Beyond cricket, Shah Rukh Khan remains busy on the cinematic front. Following the success of films like Pathaan and Jawan, the actor is now working on his upcoming project King, directed by Siddharth Anand. He was recently spotted shooting in Cape Town with Deepika Padukone. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026.
