Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal celebrate big win as Girls Will Be Girls sweeps major categories at Filmfare OTT Awards
Girls Will Be Girls, the critically acclaimed web original film and the debut production of actors-turned-producers Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, emerged as one of the biggest winners at the Filmfare OTT Awards. Produced under their banner Pushing Buttons Studios, the film swept all major categories it was nominated for.
The film won Best Web Original Film, Best Director – Web Original Film for Shuchi Talati, Best Actor (Female) – Web Original Film (Critics’ Choice) for Preeti Panigrahi, and Best Supporting Actor (Female) – Web Original Film for Kani Kusruti. The wins marked a clean sweep of top honours and highlighted the film’s strong reception among critics and audiences alike.
A coming-of-age drama, Girls Will Be Girls was widely appreciated for its sensitive storytelling, layered performances, and restrained direction. Its successful awards run marked an important milestone for Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal as first-time producers and reinforced their focus on supporting original, creator-led stories.
Reacting to the wins, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal said that the recognition was deeply encouraging for them. They shared that the film was driven by instinct and a belief in honest storytelling, and seeing it honoured across major categories felt validating.
