"Meri 10 ladkiyaan friends hai" - Ayesha Raza opening up about hubby Kumud Mishra’s empowering stance steals the show at Aap Jaisa Koi trailer launch

R Madhavan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Manish Chaudhary, Namit Sharma, director Vivek Soni and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh of Netflix attended the trailer of their film Aap Jaisa Koi in Mumbai. Ayesha Raza Mishra narrated a lovely episode involving her husband Kumud Mishra, which was praised by one and all.

Ayesha Raza Mishra began by saying, “I never had a boyfriend. I was never into any relationships. Thaka hara kuchh tha hi nahin life mein. At the age of 30 plus, I met my husband and that was pyaar (smiles). It was eight months of dating after which we married. We come from different backgrounds. He is from a village in Madhya Pradesh. I am from Uttar Pradesh but I was born and brought up in the Gulf. Our cultural and religious backgrounds were very, very different. But it all boiled down to mutual respect.”

 

She continued, “I’ll give a small example. I had a very close guy friend. He and I would regularly catch films in Bandra. Once I started dating Kumud, I suddenly felt like a responsible woman if I went out with my guy friend, isko bura na lag jaaye. One day, the guy friend called me and asked, ‘Chalein’ (to watch a film)? I replied, ‘Nahin yaar, rehne dete hai’. I called up Kumud to inform him about it and feeling ki ‘itna accha kaam kiya maine. He’ll be so proud of me to know that maine mana kar diya’.”

 

She confessed, “I called up Kumud. He asked me what I was doing. I told him, ‘My friend asked me to join him for a movie and I refused’. He asked me the reason. I replied, ‘He’s a guy. Maybe you’ll feel bad’. He cut the call! I called him to ask him what happened. He stated, ‘Tumne mujhe itna chhota samaj ke rakha hai? Why will I stop you from going out with a male friend?’.”

 

Ayesha Raza Mishra added, “He also said, ‘Meri 10 ladkiyaan friends hai. Matlab main bhi unke saath bahar nahin jaaun?’” R Madhavan, at this point, joked, “Achha, that’s why (he said so)!” As expected, it brought the house down.

 

Ayesha Raza Mishra signed off on a serious note, “If you want to define my relationship in brief, this incident sums it up!”

 

Aap Jaisa Koi releases on Netflix on July 11.
