Manoj Bajpayee reveals why reprising Srikant Tiwari for The Family Man season 3 still makes him panic on set

Before The Family Man, Manoj Bajpayee had never reprised a role on screen. All his film characters were one-offs, and he had not worked on a multi-season series. The success of The Family Man changed that. As the third season prepares for release, the actor spoke to Hindustan Times about returning as Srikant Tiwari and why acting never felt easy for him.

‘I was always panicking’

 

Many might assume that reprising a familiar character would come easily to an actor of Manoj’s calibre, but he said it never felt simple. “I was not someone who took my work for granted. I could not achieve anything without working very hard. I was a nervous person, and I passed on my nerves to my directors,” he said.

 

When asked if he avoided doing things the easy way, Manoj explained, “I never thought it was easy; that was the problem. I was panicking all the time. I was nervous all the time.” He added that this constant effort to find a character’s rhythm was not limited to The Family Man.

 

‘He wouldn’t let his nerves show’

 

Co-creator Raj Nidimoru agreed. “I realised it much later,” he said. “He never let this nervousness show. On set, he cracked jokes and behaved normally. But in his head, he kept thinking and stressing.”

 

Manoj shared that at the beginning of every season, he sat with the creators and directors for about 15–20 minutes on set to reconnect with Srikant’s character. “In the initial stages, it was always a struggle,” said the National Award winner.

 

About The Family Man Season 3

 

The Family Man S3 also brings back Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Ashlesha Thakur, Gul Panag, and Vedant Sinha. The season also introduces Jaideep Ahlawat as the antagonist, alongside Nimrat Kaur. Season 3 is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 21.
