EXCLUSIVE: Prosenjit Chatterjee recalls adorable on-set mishap with Sharmila Tagore: “She called and took me into her lap and I slapped her”

Veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee is creating a buzz with his latest film, Ajogyo, marking his 50th collaboration with actress Rituparna Sengupta. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Prosenjit went beyond promoting his film by sharing a heartwarming anecdote from his childhood.

Memories from the Set

While discussing his early experiences on film sets with his father, legendary actor Biswajeet Chatterjee, Prosenjit recalled a hilarious incident involving the iconic actress Sharmila Tagore.

A Scene Misunderstood

"I believe it was with Sharmila Aunty," Prosenjit said. "I was on set during a scene where she (Sharmila Tagore) had to slap my father (Biswajeet Chatterjee) as part of an emotional scene between the hero and heroine."

A Child's Reaction

"I was just a kid then, probably four or five years old," he continued. "I did see and I was sitting like a kid. During the lunch break, she called and took me into her lap and I slapped her!" Prosenjit chuckled, "Even today, whenever I meet her, she reminds me of that incident! She tell - ‘You slapped me because I slapped your dad!'"

For those unfamiliar, Sharmila Tagore and Biswajeet Chatterjee shared the screen in two films: Prabhater Rang and Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi.
