Drishyam 2 Box Office: Film collected Rs. 64.14 cr on Opening Weekend; emerges as Ajay Devgn’s fourth highest opening weekend grosser

Just last week on Friday, we saw the release of Drishyam 2. Starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna and Shreya Saran the film which is a sequel to the 2013 release Drishyam released across 4150 screens (domestic 3302 screens + overseas 858+ screens). Given the anticipation for the release and the fact that it came with high expectations, Drishyam 2 opening with a bang. After drawing in Rs. 15.38 cr on its first day, the business of the film saw a nearly 40% increase in collections of Day 2 with Rs. 21.59 cr coming in. Now on its third day running, the business of Drishyam 2 has seen over 76% growth from its first day with Rs. 27.17 cr coming in on its first Sunday.

On the other hand, the business of the film does manage to out performer some of his other releases like Total Dhamaal, which collected Rs. 62.40 cr, Tanhaji - The unsung Warrior which collected Rs. 61.75 cr, Baadshaho which collected Rs. 43.30 cr, Bol Bachchan which collected Rs. 43.10 cr, Raid which collected Rs. 41.01 cr, and Gangubai Kathiawadi which had collected Rs. 39.12 cr.

 

Currently, Drishyam 2 continues to enjoy the audiences’ favour, and is certain to see further growth over its first week. In fact, going by trade predictions and considering the positive trend the business of the film has been enjoying it is highly possible that the business of Drishyam 2 could reach near the Rs. 100 cr mark by the end of its first week.
