Brahmastra Occupancy Report: Film opens with 40% occupancy; likely to collect Rs. 25+ cr. on Day 1

The much talked about and keenly anticipated Ayan Mukherji directorial Brahmastra finally hit screens today. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt the film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy with special appearances from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Expected to be one of the biggest releases this Brahmastra came with immense hope and anticipation. In fact, in the run-up to its release, the film has been making headlines. However, will this hype and promotions reflect in the film’s box office business was the question.

After taking a strong start with advance bookings seeing record-setting trends, reports state that Brahmastra has taken off to a flying start. As per reports, the occupancy rate over the morning and early afternoon shows is being pegged at a steady 40%. Given the spate of advance bookings, long queues at ticket windows for spot bookings, and sold-out IMAX 3D screens, promises that the film will see around Rs. 25 cr or more coming in on Day 1. If that was not enough, seeing a release across 5019 Brahmastra enjoys one of the widest releases ever in the domestic market.

 

Adding to this is the fact that the advance bookings for Brahmastra have been very good. In fact, reports claim that the film has sold over 3 lakh tickets across three major national multiplex chains viz. PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. This combined with spot bookings, deep market penetration, and immense hype is sure to propel the business of the film.

 

Currently, Brahmastra, which has received mixed reviews, continues to run, with trade predictions indicating an increase in occupancy and footfalls over evening and night shows. This coupled with a good spate of advance bookings for its first Saturday and Sunday will greatly benefit the overall business of Brahmastra.
