Low turnout last weekend
Box-office is so very unpredictable. Look at the A-listers associated with SHORT KUT - Anil Kapoor, Neeraj Vora, Anees Bazmee, Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao… the names associated behind the scenes are also impressive. Yet, despite names that spell quality, SHORT KUT, unfortunately, did not take a speedy start at the box-office.

What does one attribute the dull start to? The promos that didn't create a buzz? Or lack of interest in the film? We can only keep guessing, but the fact remains that SHORT KUT has under-performed in its opening weekend.
The Friday to Sunday figures are way below-the-mark, while Monday was lower than Friday, which clearly indicates the negative trends. There would've been a ray of hope had SHORT KUT carried a favourable word of mouth, but the general feedback was, unfortunately, negative, with most critics giving it a thumbs down.
One of the reasons that could've gone against the film is that it gave an impression of being an out-and-out comedy, which it wasn't. The film had its share of emotional moments, which weren't highlighted aggressively prior to its release.
SANKAT CITY had a poor start on Friday [expectedly] and did show an upward trend at a few plexes on Saturday and Sunday, but that big jump was missing. Given the fact that the film is carrying favourable reports and also the fact that there's no major opposition this coming Friday, the makers should go all out and promote it like never before. This film has the potential.
On a personal level, I expected so much more from MORNING WALK. But the film didn't work for me. It has been noticed time and again that a film gathers momentum, despite a slow start, if it has the potential. But the business of MORNING WALK continues to remain on the lower side.
