Sherlyn 'Mona' Chopra to celebrate Christmas with kids

By IndiaFM News Bureau -

'Sheen' in Kashmiri means snow. Terrorism has stained the vast stretches of Kashmir's white snow with the blood of the innocents. There is blazing heat beneath the snow and that heat is the pain.

That sums up Ashok Pandit's new venture SHEEN, starring Sheen, top notch model Tarun Arora, Raj Babbar, Kiran Juneja, Samay and Anoop Soni in pivotal roles [click here to watch the pics of the film, exclusively on IndiaFM].

Produced-directed by Ashok Pandit and funded by Subroto Roy, the head honcho of Sahara Group, the film brings to light not just the Kashmir issue or the neighbouring country's hand in spreading terror in the valley, but it looks at the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, which no Hindi film has delved into so far, the film-maker states.

SHEEN tells the story of Sheen [Sheen], daughter of Pandit Amarnath [Raj Babbar]. Despite terrorism at its peak, she is adamant of not leaving Kashmir. But something drastic happens

Pandit Amarnath and his family are made to live a life of a refugee in their own country. A symbol of constant struggle, Pandit Amarnath travels from the refugee camps of Jammu to Geneva to make the world aware of the atrocities inflicted upon the Kashmiri Pandits.

My film is a tribute to all the victims of terrorism, Ashok states, adding that he has drawn instances from his life and incorporated them in the film, SHEEN is a film solely from the victim's point of view.

He elaborates, My film drives home the point that terrorists do not discriminate between a Hindu, Muslim or a Sikh. A bullet, before killing a victim, never asks him of his religion or the community he belongs to. That's what has been projected in SHEEN.

Putting the project together was a daunting task for Ashok. I've been doing the rounds of producers' offices for years now, Ashok tells me, But all they were interested in was who'd head the cast, not what the story was all about.

But when Subroto Roy heard the script, he gave the go-ahead within 15 minutes itself. I remember him telling me that we ought to make the film for the sheer message it intends to convey, he states.

While the promos of the film will go on air in the next ten days, Ashok plans to release SHEEN on January 19, 2004. A screening of some exclusive footage from the film was screened specially for this writer.
