Shatru steps in Big B's shoes:

It's official now! Two weeks ago, this writer broke the news of Shatrughan Sinha being considered for the main role in Madhur Bhandarkar's POLICE FORCE, produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala. And this week, the actor-minister was officially signed for the role, for which the Big B was signed earlier. Confirming the development, Madhur tells me that several actors were pencilled for the role after Bachchan decided to opt out of the project. We did consider Vinod Khanna and even Kamal Haasan, but Shatru-ji suits the role even better, he reveals. Citing date problems as the reason for Bachchan opting out of the film, Madhur says Shatru took Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dy. Prime Minister L.K. Advani's permission before he accepted the role. Since Shatru-ji won't be attending office when he's shooting, he had take the go-ahead from them, Madhur adds. POLICE FORCE co-stars Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty in stellar roles.
