Prakash Jha receives threat calls; files FIR

Prakash Jha, director of films such as Apaharan, Gangajal and Raajneeti, has filed a police complaint against two NRI filmmakers Pramod Bhanti and Devendra Singh for threatening him with dire consequences.



 

Apparently, Jha was planning to make a film with Bhanti and Singh in 2004 for which he was paid around 50000$. However, the film got shelved and Jha even returned the amount to the NRI filmmakers.

Nevertheless, since the last 3 days, the duo have been calling up Jha and asking him to pay Rs. 2-3 crores in cash. They even threatened to kill him if he didn't cough up the money. Jha has filed an FIR against Bhanti and Singh at the Amboli Police Station in Andheri. The FIR has been registered under Section 384 (extortion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
