Deepikas Tamil stint

Remember Deepika Padukone, daughter of former Indian badminton champion Prakash Padukone who was seen in a number of ads as well as Himesh Reshmmiyas music video? She was supposed to make her debut in Farah Khans Happy New Year opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan. However, due to her bad luck the film is on hold and Farah has started out with her new movie Om Shanti Om. Deepikas next movie is Priyadarshans Pirate which is yet to take off. With Priyadarshan busy with Bhagam Bhag, it is anyones guess when this film is going to start. Now we have got word that Deepika has been signed on for the Tamil film Chennayil Oru Mazhakkalam (Monsoons in Chennai). Incidentally, she wasnt the initial choice for the film. Another actress was chosen but as the film took time to take off, the actress couldnt allocate dates. So the director Gautam Menon decided to rope in another actress along with a new title. Hence came in Deepika. However Deepika's first film to release will be the Kannada film Aishwarya which is slated to release in September. Wishing her all the best for the future.
